My Oracle Support – Oracle Enterprise Manager integration

During his keynote yesterday, Larry Ellison did several announcements:

• The Sun – Oracle Exadata V2 – Database Machine
• The My Oracle Support – Oracle Enterprise Manager integration
• Extended Service Level Management feature within OEM GC
• Fusion Applications

Especially the My Oracle Support – OEM integration sounds great to my opinion. Based on the connection between My Oracle Support and OEM, Patch advisories will be uploaded automatically, giving you the ability to install Patch Sets, after checking on and correcting of any possible Patch conflicts.

  1. I personally don’t think so. The OEM repository does not contain any License related information, besides the OEM GC Licensing information itself.

I really think this is a great feature for customers to prevent ending up in a situation where they are struggling with a problem for several weeks and then Oracle telling them: “ Yes, but we are aware of this problem already for a long time, did nobody tell you?…”
